Interior painting for homes in the north metro

I paint interiors for homeowners in Elk River and the north metro, within about 50 miles. Walls, ceilings, and the patching that has to happen first. This fall I repainted the main level of a townhome in Anoka, and the before and after photos are below.

What I do

What I paint inside a house.

Most of the interior work I do is walls that need a new color, plus whatever patching the walls need first.

  • Walls. A few rooms or a whole main level.
  • Ceilings, including vaulted ones, when they're part of the job. On the Anoka townhome that was the bedrooms and bathrooms.
  • Trim, doors, and baseboards when they're in the scope. If the kitchen cabinets are the real problem, that's a different page.
  • Drywall repair and patching before any paint goes on.
  • Wallpaper removal, and repairing walls that wallpaper has torn up.
  • Popcorn ceiling removal, so the ceiling can be painted smooth.

I have a small crew, but I do most of the work myself.

An Anoka job

A townhome in Anoka.

This was a townhome in Anoka, fall 2026. I started on October 1 and the main level, about 1,600 square feet, took 5 days. Walls throughout: both bedrooms, the bathrooms, the kitchen and dining area, the living room, the foyer and hallways, the laundry room, the walk-in closet, and the sunroom. Ceilings in both bedrooms and both bathrooms, including the vaulted bedroom ceilings.

Most of it went to Sherwin-Williams Lightweight Beige (SW 6092). The primary bedroom went a deep green, Homegrown Sage. The second bedroom was a pale mint before. The wood windows stayed wood, and the green makes them read a little darker.

The job grew a bit once I was in it. The primary bathroom was added to the scope, and so were 16 drywall patches. The homeowner supplied the paint on this one.

Before the paint

How a room gets ready.

Before the color goes on, I patch and do the standard prep. The 16 patches in Anoka were extra repair on that job, not a number every house needs.

You move the furniture out or to the middle of the room; I cover everything else. It helps if wall decor, breakables, and window treatments are down before I get there.

When I supply the paint, it's usually Sherwin-Williams Cashmere in an eg-shel finish. If you already have your paint, like the Anoka homeowner did, that works too.

Every interior job comes with my 2-year workmanship warranty, same as my cabinet work. It covers peeling or failure from my prep or application, not normal wear, impact, or water damage.

The steps are the same as every job: Walk-through, Preparation, Finish, and Final review.

Pricing

What changes the cost.

I don't post prices, because two houses with the same square footage can be very different jobs. These are what move it:

  • How many rooms and levels.
  • Whether ceilings are included.
  • Whether trim and doors are included.
  • The condition of the walls: patches, cracks, wallpaper damage, or popcorn texture.
  • How big the color change is.
  • Whether you're supplying the paint, like on the Anoka job, or I am.

The estimate is free. Text photos to (763) 370-6121 first, and I'll come do a walk-through if I need one.

Joey did a fantastic job painting 2 interior levels of our house. We was thorough, prompt, and it was completed in just a few days. We even added our master closet after we saw what a great job he did. Highly recommend!

Joey did a great job on a few rooms in our house. The walls in one room had a lot of damage from wallpaper and he did a fantastic job getting it back to a nice finish. Everything was done quickly and left very clean!

Jp finishes painted my whole interior home, finished my woodwork and enameled doors and cabinets. I was very pleased with the work done. And will use this company again, if I need them.

Common questions

Interior painting questions.

01

How much does it cost to paint a house interior?

I don't list a price. It depends on how many rooms and levels there are, whether ceilings, trim, and doors are included, how much patching the walls need, how big the color change is, and whether you supply the paint. The estimate is free. Text me photos.

02

How long does interior painting take?

It depends on the rooms and the repairs. A few rooms is a different job from a whole main level. The Anoka townhome main level on this page took 5 days, but that's that job, not a promise for every house. Send the layout and I'll tell you what yours looks like.

03

Do you paint ceilings, trim, and doors?

Yes, when they're part of the job. On the Anoka townhome I painted the bedroom and bathroom ceilings, including the vaulted ones. Trim and doors are separate. Cabinets are a different service.

04

Can you patch drywall or fix wallpaper damage before you paint?

Yes. Patching is part of getting the wall ready. On the Anoka townhome, 16 patches were added once the walls were opened up. I've also repaired walls that were torn up from wallpaper and painted them. If the damage is more than a patch, I'll say so before we start.

05

Do you remove wallpaper?

Yes. I take the wallpaper down, get the wall back to a smooth, paintable surface, and then paint it. Send a photo of the wallpaper and a close-up of any spots that are already peeling.

06

Do you remove popcorn ceilings?

Yes. I remove popcorn texture and get the ceiling ready for paint. Send a photo of the ceiling and tell me which rooms it's in.

07

Do you paint townhomes?

Yes. The Anoka project on this page is a townhome. I'm based in Elk River and work the north metro, including Anoka.

08

What paint do you use?

When I supply the paint, it's usually Sherwin-Williams Cashmere in an eg-shel finish. On the Anoka townhome the homeowner supplied the paint. Most of the main level is Sherwin-Williams Lightweight Beige (SW 6092), and the primary bedroom is Homegrown Sage.

09

Do I need to move the furniture?

Yes. You move the furniture out or to the middle of the room; I cover everything else. Taking down wall decor, breakables, and window treatments ahead of time helps too.

10

Do you offer a warranty on interior painting?

Yes. Interior painting gets the same 2-year workmanship warranty as my cabinet work. It covers peeling or failure from my prep or application, not normal wear, impact, or water damage.
