Cabinet painting and refinishing in St. Michael, MN

I paint and refinish kitchen cabinets in St. Michael. I'm based in Elk River, about 15–20 minutes away, and I recently finished a kitchen here: the base cabinets and island in Pewter Green. Most of the kitchens I paint have good cabinets that just look tired. I've painted about 200 kitchens, and you can see how I do it on my cabinet painting page.

A real St. Michael job

A St. Michael kitchen in Pewter Green.

This one was the base cabinets and the island in Sherwin-Williams Pewter Green (SW 6208), finished in September 2026, with a Sherwin-Williams Gallery Series topcoat in a 20 sheen. The upper cabinets were already white, so I left them as they were and painted only the base cabinets and the island.

That's what gives this kitchen its two-tone look. A darker base and island under lighter uppers puts the color down low, keeps the top of the room light, and changes how the kitchen feels without painting every cabinet.

The doors and drawer fronts were sprayed in my shop. The cabinet boxes were sprayed on site, under masking, with the kitchen sealed off behind a dust wall so the dust stayed in the kitchen. When the finish was done, the doors went back on and got adjusted.

Your kitchen

How I'd handle your kitchen.

Your doors and drawer fronts come back to my shop and get sprayed there. The cabinet boxes are sprayed on site, under masking, with the kitchen sealed off behind a dust wall.

You can still use your kitchen while I work. I keep things covered, but you can uncover what you need day to day. You don't need to empty cabinets that are easy to get to.

Most kitchens take about a week, sometimes up to a week and a half. I use Sherwin-Williams Extreme Bond primer, with Sherwin-Williams Gallery Series or ILVA as the topcoat depending on the job, usually in a 20 sheen. Every job comes with my 2-year workmanship warranty.

Why me

Why my background matters.

I learned the trade in my dad's finishing shop and on residential and commercial job sites, starting when I was 16.

I've painted about 200 kitchens, and I also prefinish cabinets and woodwork for cabinet makers. I have a small crew, but I do most of the work myself.

Most kitchens take about a week, sometimes up to a week and a half depending on size and condition. You can keep using your kitchen while I work, and you don't need to empty cabinets that are easy to reach.

Yes. The St. Michael kitchen on this page is a recent job, and there's more in my gallery. If you want to see something specific, like a color or oak cabinets, ask and I'll send photos.

How much does cabinet painting cost in St. Michael?

It depends on the kitchen, so I don't list one price. What drives the cost is how many doors and drawer fronts there are, their condition, how big the color change is, paint versus stain, and extras like an island or vanities. The estimate is free, so start by sending me a few photos.

Do you work in Albertville or Hanover?

They're not on my regular list, but they're right next to St. Michael. Send your town with the request and I'll let you know.
